Terms of Sale

Last updated: 3 September 2026. These terms apply to goods supplied by RSEC Security Equipment Centre (Pty) Ltd unless we have signed a separate written agreement with you.

Quotations

A quotation is an invitation to do business and is not a binding offer. Quotations are valid for the period stated on the quotation and are subject to stock being available at the time of order. An order is only accepted once we confirm it in writing.

Prices

All prices are subject to change without prior notice due to currency fluctuation, fuel prices or unforeseen economic circumstances. Prices shown to logged-in customers are indicative. Unless clearly stated otherwise, prices include VAT at the prevailing rate. Trade prices are confidential and are shown only to approved trade accounts.

Payment

Goods are paid for before collection or dispatch unless a credit account has been approved in writing. Approved account terms are those recorded on your credit application and shown on your statement. Interest may be charged on overdue amounts at the rate shown on your invoice or statement. We may suspend supply on any account in arrears.

Ownership and risk

Risk in the goods passes to you on collection, or on delivery to you or your courier. Ownership of the goods remains with RSEC Security Equipment Centre (Pty) Ltd until they have been paid for in full. Until then you may not sell, encumber or part with possession of them.

Inspection

Please check goods on collection or delivery. Shortages, incorrect items or visible damage must be reported to us as soon as possible after you receive the goods, and before they are installed or used, after which the delivery is treated as accepted and correct.

Suitability and installation

You are responsible for satisfying yourself that the goods are suitable for the application, site conditions and regulations that apply to your installation. Security equipment must be installed and commissioned by a competent person. We are not responsible for installation work carried out by you or by a third party.

Liability

Nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot lawfully be limited, including under the Consumer Protection Act 68 of 2008. Subject to that, our liability arising from any goods supplied is limited to the price paid for those goods, and we are not liable for indirect or consequential loss, loss of profit, loss of data, or loss arising from failure, false alarm, non-detection or unauthorised access of any security system.

Cancellation

Special-order and non-stock items cannot be cancelled once ordered from the supplier. Other cancellations are at our discretion and may attract a handling fee, which we confirm to you before the cancellation is accepted.

Delays and supply

Lead times are estimates. We are not liable for delay or non-delivery caused by anything outside our reasonable control, including supplier or import delays, exchange rate and duty changes, transport failure, load shedding, network or communications failure, fire, flood, civil unrest, strike, or any act of state. Where a delay becomes unreasonable, either party may cancel the affected part of the order and any amount already paid for undelivered goods is refunded.

Installation and compliance

We supply equipment. We do not install it unless we have agreed to in writing. You, or the installer you appoint, are responsible for installing to the manufacturer's instructions, to the relevant standards, and for obtaining any certificate the law requires. In particular, an electric fence system requires an Electric Fence System Certificate of Compliance issued by a registered electric fence system installer, and electrical work requires a Certificate of Compliance from a registered person. RSEC Security Equipment Centre (Pty) Ltd is not responsible for work we did not carry out.

Indemnity

You indemnify RSEC Security Equipment Centre (Pty) Ltd against any claim, loss or expense arising from your use, installation, resale or misuse of goods supplied, except to the extent that the claim arises from our own gross negligence or wilful misconduct, or from anything the law does not allow us to exclude.

Your rights under the Consumer Protection Act

Nothing in these terms limits the rights the Consumer Protection Act 68 of 2008 gives you, including the right to goods that are of good quality, in working order and free of defects, and the six month right to return goods that are not. Where these terms and the Act differ, the Act applies.

Credit

Any credit facility is granted at our discretion, subject to a signed application, and may be reduced or withdrawn on notice. Where the National Credit Act 34 of 2005 applies to a facility, its provisions prevail over these terms.

Notices and disputes

Notices may be given by email to the address on your account. Please raise any dispute with us first, in writing, so we can resolve it. If we cannot, you may refer a consumer complaint to the National Consumer Commission or to the relevant ombud.

General

If any part of these terms is found to be unenforceable, the rest continues to apply. Our failure to enforce a term at any time is not a waiver of it. These terms, together with our quotation and invoice, are the whole agreement between us on the goods supplied.
