What we collect

• Account information: name, email address, phone number, company name and the pricing tier your account is on.
• Enquiry information: the products on your enquiry list, the message you send us, and the page the enquiry came from.
• Technical information: IP address, browser and device type, pages viewed and referring site, collected through cookies and Google Analytics.
• Correspondence: emails, WhatsApp messages and phone notes relating to your enquiries.

We do not collect payment card details on this website. No payment is taken online.

Why we process it

• To respond to enquiries and quote on the products you ask about.
• To operate your account and show you the pricing your account tier is entitled to see.
• To supply goods you order, including passing delivery details to a courier.
• To meet our legal, tax and record-keeping obligations.
• To improve the website and understand how it is used.

We rely on your consent, on performance of a contract with you, and on our legitimate interest in running the business, depending on the purpose.

Who we share it with

We share personal information only where it is needed: with couriers and delivery partners, with our email, hosting and analytics providers, with suppliers where a warranty claim requires it, and with regulators or law enforcement where the law requires it. We do not sell personal information.

Some of our service providers process information outside South Africa. Where that happens we take reasonable steps to ensure comparable protection, as POPIA requires.

How long we keep it

Account and transaction records are kept for at least five years to meet tax and company law requirements. Enquiry correspondence is kept no longer than the period for which it was collected, unless the law requires us to keep it for longer or you ask us to delete it sooner. Analytics data is retained according to Google's own retention settings.

Your rights

You may ask us to confirm what personal information we hold about you, to correct or delete it, or to stop processing it for direct marketing. Write to [email protected] and we will respond within a reasonable time. You may also complain to the Information Regulator (South Africa) at [email protected].

Cookies

This site uses cookies for the session that keeps you logged in and remembers your enquiry list, and for Google Analytics. You can block cookies in your browser, but the login and enquiry list will not work without the session cookie.

Security

Passwords are stored hashed, never in plain text. Traffic to the site is encrypted with HTTPS. We take reasonable technical and organisational measures to protect personal information, but no system is completely secure and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

Changes

We may update this policy. The current version is always on rsec.co.za and the date at the top shows when it last changed.
